Chromebook Daily Expectations:

if you forget your Chromebook at home or in a different classroom you will receive:
1st Offense: Signature in your planner
2nd Offense: Signature in planner and lunch detention
3rd Offense: Signature in planner, after school detention and parent notified

- Please have your Chromebook with you at all times and in it’s case when not in use.
- IF you leave your Chromebook at home, you will be asked to call a parent to bring it to you.

Chromebook Policy & Rules:
- All students will be issued Chromebooks, chargers and protective sleeves for use during the school year.
Chromebooks are barcoded and linked to each student’s account. - Students must have a completed permission form on file.
- Chromebook insurance must be purchased within the first month of receiving the device. Chargers and sleeves are not covered by insurance.
- Students are to protect Chromebooks from damage. If you notice a problem or damage with the Chromebook when it is checked out to you, immediately report the problem to library staff to avoid being held responsible.
- Students are not to deface, write on, adhere stickers, bedazzlements, or bling to the Chromebook, charger or sleeve.
- Students are required to return all Chromebooks at the conclusion of the school year, at the direction or request of the administration, teacher or library staff, or if the student leaves John McCandless STEM Charter School. All Chromebooks checked out to the student must be returned in good, usable condition, with the asset tag(barcode sticker)still attached.
- Chromebooks must be charged upon return
- Students are not to leave their Chromebook in a classroom.
- Avoid sharing or borrowing Chromebooks to reduce potential damage or loss to the student who checked out the Chromebook.
- If a Chromebook is lost or willfully damaged, the student is required to pay all costs for repair or replacement, unless fully insured. Replacement Chromebooks purchased by parent or student are not accepted in lieu of repair or replacement charges.
Chromebook Handling and Best Practices :
- Never leave your Chromebook unattended.
- Do not walk while your Chromebook is open.
- Do not charge your cell phone through your Chromebook.
- Always carry your Chromebook in the protective sleeve to avoid damages.
- Do not allow anyone else to use your Chromebook.
- Do not leave your Chromebook in a car, trunk, or public place.
- Do not carry your Chromebook in your backpack if possible.
- Immediately report damages or problems with your Chromebook.
- Do not leave your Chromebook on the floor.
- Do not leave your Chromebook within reach of a sibling or pet who may cause damage.
- Always arrive to school with your Chromebook charged. Use a UL listed Surge Protector when charging your Chromebook to avoid battery damage
- Close each window and application to preserve battery life.
- Be sure to log out of your Chromebook after completing your assignments.
